What's the (Million) Word (Site)?
The Million Word Site is the greatest grass roots Internet project ever. Conceived as a better alternative to the many page driver sites on the Internet and as a high value alternative to high priced traditional display advertising, it lets you get your message heard for just a few dollars - whether you just want to express your creative self, advertise your home based business, or put up advertisements for global, multinational products. Only the alphabet determines where your word goes on the list, and after that you build your exposure on the Million Word Site by building your mini-site, blogging about anything related to your message, or using the forums to meet and exchange ideas with your fellow WordMasters.
We have no corporate sales department, and everyone plays on a level field here. We treat you equally, whether you buy 10000 words for your whole product line or one word for your new crafts business.
Once you buy a word, it is yours. It can only be bought once as a word and five times in a two word phrase. That means if someone else wants your word, they have to buy it from you - all we get is a 5% commission for handling the PayPal and change of E-mail and password. For now, if you see a word that you want and it is already on the site, contact i.schier@millionwordsite.com and we will broker the sale for you (no obligation to either side). Soon, there will be an automated sales, trade and auction feature to make the site even more fun and easier to use for new and old owners alike.
Once we get to a million words and phrases (combined in all languages), this site will be considered full, and we'll keep it running for a minimum of five seven years from the day we reach a million! Really we'll keep it going as long as the Internet remains as it is and sites stay in their present basic format. Since people will still be able to buy words from you and your fellow site members, and since MillionWordPoints will be useful for offers from our sponsors and related sites as well as for words, people will visit this site as long as the Internet works the way it does now.
And as we grow, so do you. Your word moves up in search engine listings as we grow and as more and more people check back to see what our WordMasters are doing with their words. - You become a Word Master© when you register and choose a word on The Million Word Site. That means you are the only one who can buy the word you choose, and you can do whatever you want with it . You can be as creative as you want - from using your word to tell your friend how much you appreciate her, to choosing a completely crazy and whacky message that expresses your individuality (just don't be naughty and tell us how much you love cocaine - we'll take your page off faster than it takes you to get arrested for using coke on Times Square - references to drugs, pornography, insulting people, racism, abuse and all the rest of that nasty stuff are not what we're about). So, if you want to showcase your creative writing skills, you can do that. And if you want to show off for the love of your life, you can do that. And if you want to let the world know about your new business, this is just perfect for you!
- This ain't English class (or any other language class). You can use your word in any way you want, and really you can even redefine a word. From expressing your feelings for someone to just about any message you choose, you have the power to do what you want with your word so long as it's not nasty. After we're up to 10,000 words, we'll let you sell, auction or even rent your word at whatever price you want and without charging you for offering it for sale. We collect the money and take out our very reasonable commission before forwarding it to you via PayPal or check. We may get offers for a word, but we'll just forward them to you - we'll never force you to sell, or set the price for you. Also, as the site becomes more popular we reserve the right to change the price of new words, but it will never go below the introductory pre-launch special price. If you decide you want to change your word, we will have a special procedure for you where you pay a very small fee for changing (no matter what the price of new words is at the time).
